Development of Multi-center Consensus Treatment Plans for Immunosuppression after Pediatric Liver Transplant: Reducing Variability, Creating Comparative Efficacy Opportunities

This webinar will be on May 12, 2026 (16:00 CET)

This webinar will focus on the development of consensus treatment plans (CTPs) for induction immunosuppression following pediatric liver transplantation. Led by the STARZL Network for Excellence in Pediatric Transplantation (SNEPT), the session will highlight a collaborative, multi-center effort to standardize protocols, reduce variability, and lay the groundwork for future quality improvement and comparative effectiveness research across pediatric transplant centers.

Speakers:

-Dr. Emily R. Perito, MD, MAS, Department of Paediatrics, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, University of California San Francisco, San Francisco, CA.

-Dr. James E. Squires, MD, MS, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA.

Learning outcomes:

After attending the webinar participants will be able to:

  • Gain knowledge how learning health network’s function and recognize their capacity to improve outcomes.
  • Understand variability in immunosuppression practices and the rationale for standardization and consensus treatment plans (CTP) development
  • Recognize the potential role of CTPs in future quality improvement and comparative effectiveness trials

Attendees will specifically learn how to:

  • Engage with a diverse group of stakeholders (e.g., transplant surgeons, hepatologists, pharmacists, nurses, patient families) in shared-decision making
  • Participate in or lead the development of CTPs along with steps for implementing CTPs within a clinical team or institution.
