“A Brighter Future”

“TransplantChild, testimonies for life”

A pediatric transplant, whatever it may be, is in most cases the last resort to save a life, offering a child a new beginning.

It is a procedure which brings along hope, but also many fears, doubts and uncertainties that deeply challenge patients and their families in a long-endured process. Feeling alone can make the situation even more difficult to bear, while knowing that other children and other families have gone through the same experience can be a precious source of relief and support.

This booklet collects testimonies across Europe of children – sometimes told by their parents – adolescents and young adults who have undergone any type of transplant, with the purpose of sharing their stories with those anxiously waiting for a transplant. Its first purpose is to be informative, but we are glad that it has turned out to be inspirational as well for many people.

“Lives that Take Care of Lives”

“Testimonies from transplantation teams across Europe”

Dealing with rare disease requiring transplantation since very early infancy is a continuous challenge not only for children and their families, but also for all the healthcare professionals who share this journey with them.

This booklet collects testimonies of paediatric transplantation teams across Europe from all types of transplantation programmes.
What are the main professional roles necessary in a multidisciplinary team dedicated to pediatric transplantation? How to establish a fruitful relationship with patients and families that can truly make the difference in the care process? This collection of stories answers those questions and many more.

“This booklet shows that beyond borders paediatric transplantation is above all a story of love, trust and shared resilience between healthcare professionals, children and families. Paediatric transplantation is not just a treatment, but an emotional and educational partnership.”

Patients’ Involvement

Patient’s Flyer

ERNs help patients with rare or low-prevalence complex diseases. Low-prevalence and complex diseases are conditions that combine a number of factors or symptoms and which are not common. They require a multidisciplinary approach with several possible diagnoses, are often difficult to test and interpret and/or have a high risk of complications. For such cases, the ERNs can bring the expertise that is often missing within your region or your country.
